The December 11th Ice Storm and God's Faithfulness
The Ice Storm hit us hard on Thursday
and Friday. By early Friday morning we had lost all power which meant
no electricity, no lights, no heat, no cooking, no phone, no internet. At 7 am
my husband discovered that the sump pump was not working and water
was filling up fast in the basement. As the house started getting cold I lit
candles in the dog room bringing the temperature up to 65 to 67 degrees.
On Sunday morning
JOY went into labor!
The outside temperature was 13 degrees, the inside temperature was 40
degrees. Church was canceled because there was no electricity there either.
A lady from our church had came to see how we were doing and found out
that we had 6 - 8 inches of water in the basement with more still coming in.
She went to the fire department and asked
them to pump us out. They arrived early Sunday afternoon with a generator
and hooked it up to the sump pump. My husband told the fireman that one of
our dogs was in labor. He said there was an
extra outlet on the generator for
a heater or whatever we wanted. I chose to use a hairdryer to dry my puppies
when they were born.
In the midst of this storm God gave His grace and blessings to us by having
the
Brightest moonlight in 15 years occur during this weekend of no power,
thereby allowing my dogs to be able to see in the yard at night while we had
no lights for them in the yard. He had one of our parishioners come to check
on us which brought the firemen, a generator to pump out the basement, an

extra
outlet for the hairdryer so I could dry my puppies to prevent them
from chilling and dying while we had no heat or lights and we had water.
God indeed is good!
Our power came back on Monday afternoon and all the puppies are well.
