About Us |
In 2001, my daughter, Sarah, who helped me with my Bichons, became interested in the Bichon Havanese. She researched the breed, then told me about these delightful little "silk" dogs. I liked the fact that they are cousins to my Bichons. They are a fun breed of dog that not only loves to play and please you, but they love to sit in your lap. Plus, they come in Colors! In 2002, after having raised Bichon Frise since 1987, I decided to add some "color" to my life. Sarah researched the breed, but I was the one who purchased the puppy! I purchased my first Havanese puppy from June Hartzog. I did not want a black dog. I wanted "color." One day while sitting on June's deck, I noticed that the "black" puppy that I was supposed to take home had a "red tinge" in her coat. I thought the puppy was iron deficient. June said, "Oh, the red means the puppy is going to turn silver." The Lord knew I did not want a black dog! I named my "black" puppy, Ebony, because ebony is a silvery black color. My puppy, Ebony, who is now a grown-up Champion is a beautiful black, blue and silver dog. I bought another Havanese puppy from June. Her name is Patches. She is Gold Sable Irish Pied. June and I went to dog shows together. June finished Ebony to her Championship in the Bred By Exhibitor Class and I finished Patches to her Championship in the Puppy Class. Both Ebony and Patches have a puppy that is getting ready for the Show Ring. Ebony and Patches have their "Chic" numbers. This means they are OFA for hips, OFA for knees, CERFed yearly, and BAER tested normal for hearing. We are as committed to breeding the Havanese for quality, health, temperament and the Show Standard as we are for our Bichon Frise. I am a member of the Havanese Club of America. |
